Douglas Kibbe has been serving the Lord for over thirty years. Two
years ago he contracted Lou Gehrig's disease. This disease slowly paralyzes the muscles. Because it only affects the nerves
to the muscles a person with A. L. S. can still think and understand everything going on around them. Douglas continues in
the ministry of helping others all over the world now through the internet. He is doing this through technology. With his
computer he can type and talk and surf the internet. With God's strength and help he is daily on the computer writing encouragement
to other ALS victims and their families. Through the foundation he is also enabling others to more effectivly communicate
through both high and low technology. This is truly a labor of love because he believes everyone needs to be able to communicate
so the love of God can be shared. He likes to tell everyone, " If I can share God's love the way I am, then why can't you!"
This is a prayer by Russ Gumble who went to be with the Lord.
A year ago he wrote the following prayer for himself and all the ALS victims:
Dear heavenly father, it is with great joy that I come to you. You
bring such comfort and
support to my soul and lifeless body.
I want
to stand in awe of you Jesus, but my legs no longer support me.
I want to raise my hands high to glorify you, but dear Father they do
not
respond.
I want to sing praises to you lord,
but I cannot speak, the words no
longer come.
But I know that long before the heavens came to be, long before the
earth existed you
designed me, I am your child, your son and daughter.
How can I be bitter?
How can I be sad?
I will count the many blessing and miracles that surround me each day.
I will be a Christian beacon shining so bright that my mere presence
will be a witness to
your mighty glory.
Lord, it is such a small
thing for you to lay a merciful hand on this
insignificant servant and
breathe spirit back into this lifeless form. However, it does not
matter to me as long as I am in
your hands, because dear Lord, there is no better place to be.
Lord bring understanding , wisdom, patience, and a merciful healing
not
only to us but the
entire world.
Amen.
